The last weeks have been very hard... Some algae took over control which gave me lots of work. the aquarium is more stabilized and clean at the moment but some algae keep fighting. Basically, I'm injecting oxygenated water on algae so I can eliminate them. It's an excellent way of killing algae with no costs. I confess, I'm really impressed!
There are some new plants I added to the tank I think you will like... or at least I hope!
This weekend was awesome... I finally had the opportunity to go to a workshop of aquascaping with Filipe Oliveira (FAAO). In my opinion he is not only the best Portuguese aquascaper but also one of the best in the world. He already won some big prizes in international competitions as you can see if you go to his blog -

Well, about the workshop what can I say... It was awesome!! The layout created is very simple and beautiful at the same time. This tank was created to be the big attraction of the pet zone but at the same time it can't demand much maintenance. So this was the solution Filipe found more appropriate to the situation and I totally agree with him.
In this layout were used lots of rocks, driftwood, sand, ELOS Terra Zero, ELOS Bottom Mineral and ELOS Terra (the last 3 came from the last layout). The plants were mostly cryptos, anubias and ferns.
The final result was very good if we consider the time he had to finish the "job", the variety of plants and materials available.
Now, take a look at these photos ...
Filipe, you're the man eheheh
For those who understand Portuguese I have a HUGE video (divided in parts) of this workshop, so that anyone can listen what was said during the workshop.
Finally I have some time to take care of my tank! I finished my exams last Wednesday so right now I'm a little more relaxed.
Last week I added a new CO2 System and a new filter to the aquarium and I can tell you... I couldn't be more happy about those acquisitions! The filter is very quiet, I almost can't hear it, cleans very well and creates an excellent water flow in the tank. The CO2 from Waterplant was also an excelent choice because it's easy to regulate and brings a solenoid valve which is very important.
I'm very confident about this. I just hope it keeps this way!
Of course I couldn't say goodbye without a video of the actual moment of the aquarium :)
Hey Hey! Last Saturday was one of my saddest days since I'm in this hobby. My Koi Angel died with internal parasites and I couldn't save her. She was the oldest fish in my aquarium with 2 years at least and one of my favorites. It was definitely a bad lucky day because in the same day my CO2 system stopped working correctly. A leak in the regulator! I was so annoyed, you can't imagine. 2 months after I buy it I already have problems with this system... You've got to be kidding me!
Hi everyone! I've been missing my blog last weeks and you as well but I do have to study for the exams so that I can have some peace then. About the tank I can't tell you much right now... The plants are growing reasonably, my fishes look healthy and happy and now I have a precious help against algae...Otocinclus arnoldi! At the moment I only have 5 of them but next week I'll probably get another 5.
For now enjoy some images and a very short video of my piece of paradise!
